As I love the quote of “Be the change you wish to see in the world”, I’ve tried to research this quote and have discovered that there is no real evidence this was actually Gandhi’s quote. However, he did say..
“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.” – Mahatma Gandhi
Either way, I love both quotes and think they are very true!
My “third child”, (my niece actually but we have a special and treasured bond), gave me a gift that I proudly display on my desk…it is a simple block of a square piece of wood that reads “Choose Happy”. I have this block of wood facing me at work each day. Sometimes, when life happens at work and I could easily get myself wrapped up in negativity, all I have to do is read that block and realize the choice is mine and I smile that I am so blessed to have a lot of wonderful people in my life!
Thanks for stopping by!
Elizabeth and Max (another fine example of “being the change you wish to see in the world” – being abandoned and who knows what else happened to him, he still is able to give such love!)
