Port of Houston – FREE Sam Houston Boat Tour

On April 8th, I had a busy day…first I decided to go on a FREE boat ride of the Port of Houston….well, truthfully I had to make advance reservations as the Port needs to be certain of its security (which I am happy to hear)! ย Then I went to The Houston Art Car Parade later in the day, but you’ve already seen that by now ๐Ÿ™‚

The ship channel is about 52 miles long with the Port of Houston being a 25 mile long stretch of an approximately 150 terminals. ย I had no clue that our Houston Port is ranked 1st in US imports – go Houston! ๐Ÿ™‚ and that 241 million tons of cargo move through our port annually! I especially love that they offer these free boat rides though ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ! Who doesn’t like that?! On to the good stuff…photos!

These murals adorn the areas outside while waiting for your Free Boat Tour to begin.
These murals were commissioned in celebration of The Port’s 90 anniversary in 2004 by The Museum of Cultural Arts by “Prince” Kalu Maduekwe and his team of teenage artists, (Brandon Pinson, Derrell Porter, Kristena Lenora Hackett, Koty Holmes, Marquel Williams and ย “T-Will” Turrod Williams)

Even served FREE coffee and donuts!! Impressive! Then FREEย sodas and cookies on the way back! Houston hospitality! ๐Ÿ™‚ย
It was a picture perfect day but getting Houston Hot!
Let the fun begin as we leave the dock
I loved this gorgeous old bridge
A photo doesn’t do the size of this justice!
Here we go
Ya don’t want to really eat fish caught here!
Non-stop busy
Plenty of odd sites to see

You can see our Houston skyline in the background

Sadly, the trip is almost over.

And that concludes our tour of The Port of Houston!
