My Dad told me about Newman’s Bakery and the castle years ago! May 26th I finally got to see it for myself!!
Tucked away in a small city, about a hour’s drive from Downtown Houston, in Bellville, Texas you’ll find two hidden gems…we’ll talk about Newman’s Bakery first : ) .
Bellville is a small city of around 4,100 residents and is the county seat for Austin County, Texas. (See below for special offer for Houston Photo Journey readers!)
Mike Newman, a Bellville native, has owned Newman’s Bakery in Bellville, Texas since 1983.
(Photo Left to Right) Mr. Mike Newman, Attorney, Mr. Paul Looney and Mr. Chad Welty enjoying their morning coffee and breakfast as the world goes by early on a Friday morning.
All sorts of handcrafted items are for sale here in front of the counter and all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. (Nice to see Mr. Newman supporting the American Cancer Society!) (Cute stuff too by the way).

Mike Newman, the owner of Newman’s Bakery began the huge undertaking of building his very own castle back in 1998 and today this 3,400 sq. ft. castle is his home! He even has a medieval dungeon! Did I mention a working trebuchet too?!…Stay tuned as you won’t want to miss out!!
