Contemporary Arts Museum – Houston, TX

Today we visit the Contemporary Arts Museum.  It’s just entirely too hot now to do many outdoor activities so Max and I are going to see what kind of indoor fun we can have 🙂 ….and admission…FREE!!!

Paul Ramirez Jonas, Paper Moon (I Create as I Speak), 2008. Framed inkjet prints on paper, music stand, amplifier, and microphone.  The sentence “I create as I speak” (itself a translation of the ancient Aramaic phrase “abracadabara”), is repeated over and over in this 616 page long text.  In upper and lower text as well as the use of X’s, periods and spaces come together to form a 20 foot likeness of the moon.  One page has been removed and is on the lectern. You are invited to step up to the microphone and read it aloud or to yourself.

This is an interesting exhibit, Public Trust,  that changes each Saturday with World, National and local headlines and then as you see the seated couple agreed to make a promise and that will eventually then become part of the art.  Cool concept.  (#PublicTrustHTX)

It was fun to see “grown-ups” acting like kids and enjoying art!

Thank you as always for visiting! I’ll be catching up reading all of your blogs this week as I feel behind over the long July 4th weekend 🙂
