The Little Toyota Truck Saw A Sign That Said “Rockport Texas Beach”…And His Steering Wheel Suddenly Had A Mind Of His Own!(MUST Have Been The Truck’s Fault As I Was Already Late Getting Back Home :)

How do you turn a simple 3 hour car drive from Corpus Christi, Texas to Houston into a 8 hour trip?? Have me at the wheel!!! I see an interesting billboard, sign, etc. and off I go getting distracted….fun! (Swerve! Detour!)!

I didn’t ever make time for the beach while in Corpus, so a quick drive through of Rockport Beach surely wouldn’t affect my drive time tooooo much right?! (Well, let’s not mention the other stop at Harbor Point Park ..opps!…or the others…)

The weather was a little funky but still….HAD to stop here!!!

I really loved the way this beach park is laid out and trust me that there is something for everyone’s nature taste here! I LOVE this place and will be back!!!

This section of the Rockport Beach features a super calm, saltwater pool area. Β This would be ideal if you had small children with you or people that aren’t much of beach fans! Stupid me, decided to change my clothes in the truck into my swimsuit but more on that later! I couldn’t wait to get in and wet my hair!!

Although the water was not cold, it still was wonderful to get in and cool off as it was 200 degrees outside (ok, MIGHT be slightly exaggerating πŸ™‚

Plenty of shaded areas too in the Saltwater Pool section of the park

The beach park was super clean and had everything you need to have a wonderful time there!

Right next to this field was a roped off area protecting nesting birds – so happy to see them being protected!!

This little guy looks like a Laughing Gull but I’m really not sure. Β If any of you know, please share your wisdom with me πŸ™‚ as I never saw a brown headed one!

I started off just grabbing a few shots but then began to be fascinated watching this trio. Β I swear it seemed like they were having a very involved conversation and would fly a bit, then return to gossip πŸ™‚Β

No need to explain the following shots as y’all know my love of these quirky creatures but this particular one had the most bizarre eyes!!

Although I didn’t photograph it, there are also plenty of great fishing spots and places available to clean your fish onsite.

This is the beach side of the park (sorry about the bad quality photos)

Ok, so that’s it for Rockport Beach but if you are ever in the area I would recommend visiting! There was a $5 entrance fee but worth every cent!!!

Thank you for your comments and visiting!!! Hope you have a beautiful today!!

  1. Elizabeth,
I’ve been there a hundred years ago. Doesn’t look like it changed much. But those coastal Texas town don’t. Not much resources available other than maintenance. Thanks for sharing. BTW some of those close up bird shots were great.
