My poor little co-author and sidekick, Max is sooooo bored!!! I’ve been sick with bronchitis once again so homebound and high levels of steriods…yuck! I have such a love/hate relationship with steroids!! Anyway, that said…Max hasn’t been able to go on any of our adventures :(. So, here we go with some recent backyard, “Houston” photos.
I’ve begun to put up bird feeders and bird baths in my backyard to see who comes to visit me… so far, this is what I’ve captured 🙂 …
Today we are off to see Stephen F. Austin State Park – less than an 30-45 minute drive from Houston and a great place to camp!
While I didn’t go camping on this outting, I included some photos from when my daughter and I and our pups went camping in 2015. We had a blast camping there and did some geocaching there too. Let me tell ya…finding a micro-geocache is hard (full credit to my daughter finding that one!)!!! The trails there are well-kept and plenty of birds can be spotted here too…especially my red cardinals 🙂
Just a simple post today…I decided to make Max my model for today 🙂 . I love this little guy something fierce!! Enjoy 🙂
Since I was recently in Katy, Texas with Max to check out Mary Jo Peckham Park, I decided to go next door to the City Of Katy Off Leash Dog Park. They have a little pups area that is more for dogs Max sized and then the big dog area. Max loves to go to the big park area as it’s so much more room to wander, so a let him as long as I don’t see any ruff 🙂 pups and I leave his leash on but let it drag behind him in case I need to grab him quickly.
Max loves to just spend forever sniffing! Whatever makes him happy 🙂
Met all sorts of friendly little pups there.
What’s a girl to do when she sees a gator a mere 2 feet from her?? Yep, take a photo (sssh…don’t tell my children as they were mad at me last time I did this :)). That said, I was pretty much shocked as later in the day, I saw a grandfather position his 7 (ish) year old granddaughter about the same distance as I was earlier in the day with her back to the gator for a photo! Guess I felt it was one thing for me-an adult to have “risky behavior” but not a kid!!! Luckily, Grandma came trudging along and well, Grandpa should feel fortunate HE’s still alive – if looks could kill, well…Grandma was NOT happy about the “photo shoot”!
Anyway, the day at Brazos Bend State Park in Needville, TX was slightly humid and sky’s kept looking like rain all day but I only got drizzle a time or two. Sorry, the photos reflect the yucky but fun day. Now it’s time to soak my feet!!! I’m exhausted!!
P.S. This park also has the George Observatory – it’s pretty incredible to see the moon from there on a clear night!!! (And I’m not even all that “into” that but it REALLY is cool!!)
P.P.S. If you have little ones and want to see other things nearby, the George Ranch Historical Park is very close by!
Trivia: Alligator eggs become male or female based on temperature, you’ll have a female in colder weather and male in warmer weather.
Alligators like to stay in groups call congregations.
Alligators can’t internally control their temperatures so they bathe in the sun to increase their temps.
As long as there’s an incline, they can climb! Better start looking in trees!

Thanks for visiting!

Max has been a little peeved that he hasn’t had a post yet so this one’s for you Max 🙂
Max is my perfect pup! He’s my “Heart Dog” and best buddy! He has gone through a lot in his life, escaping death, etc. and I thank God for him surviving through it all every day and finding his way into my life!! I couldn’t find a more perfect and wonderful friend!!
Happy Valentine’s Day Max!!
